Patricia's Florida Supercon Experience 2016

It's been over 2 years since I went to Florida Supercon. Last year, I went to Magic City Comic Con and Megacon, which were so much fun. But there were so many people I wanted to meet at the convention that I bought a ticket to make my way to Miami once again. However, I also wanted to do two panels, but unfortunately, due to a massive screwup it didn't work out as mentioned a few weeks ago. So they gave me a 4 day pass for free which was very nice. I just got back from the convention borderline exhausted, but enthused of all the wonderful moments I experienced this year. So, here we go with all the wonderful special guests I met.

Tara Strong

Tara is a very well known voice actress being in roles such as Batgirl from Batman: The Animated Series, Bubbles from the original Powerpuff Girls, Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents, Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and much more. I was informed by a small group of fans waiting in line that Tara's line was the longest line to wait in when it came to the voice actors who were there. So the group of people consisting of a couple dressed as Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a pair of friends dressed as Mario and Luigi from the Mario video game series, a guy with long curly hair and a beard with an acoustic guitar, a guy dressed in a soccer jersey, a guy dressed as military gear with a face mask, and a brony with a lot of My Little Pony merchandise were waiting in the line for almost two hours for Tara to show up. Every time there was a little girl holding a My Little Pony doll or dressed as one of the pony characters, he gave them a card of a My Little Pony convention held in Tampa coming up and they looked really happy about it. After Tara finally showed up, everyone was relieved and cheered.

I helped taking the pictures of the couple, the Mario bros, and the soccer guy and seeing them meeting up with Tara was so sweet. When the guy with the long hair and beard approached Tara, he knelt down in front of her to sign his guitar. She signed it and when he requested to voice Bubbles, he screamed with joy. Seeing that was absolutely priceless since our two hours waiting, he was mostly talking about metal music and posting controversial stuff online such as voting for Donald Trump as president as a joke just to see people pissed off. Then seeing the brony guy was more than thrilled for Tara signing his merchandise. When she did the voice of Twilight, he was very excited. Finally it was my turn and I paid for a photo of her. She was very nice to talk to and seemed just as excited to meet up with her fans as they were meeting with her.

Kel Mitchell

Kel is a very known actor for Nickelodeon shows such as All That, Kenan & Kel, and most recently Game Shakers. I didn't have to wait as long as Tara's, but there were some people who were excited that Kel was there. When I met him, he was one of the coolest guys I ever met. He was so nice and laid back when I approached him for a picture.

Fabian Nicieza

Fabian is a comic book writer and artist who created Deadpool alongside with comic book artist and writer Rob Liefeld. Over the past 3 years since going back to conventions, I have seen so many Deadpool cosplayers and this year was no exception since the recent movie came out. There was a line of Deadpool and X-Men fans waiting for him to sign their books and talking about the origins of the character. When I saw him, he was a cool guy who wanted to post a cloth poster for the picture. I didn't want him to do that since there were other people waiting and didn't want them to wait longer, but he was very persistent. The poster did look really cool and he was nice enough to let me have a picture of him for free.

Steve Blum.

Steve is a very well known voice actor being in roles such as Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Wolverine from Wolverine & The X-Men, Amon from The Legend of Korra, and more. There were so many people waiting in line to meet up with Steve. Another favorite moment in the convention was seeing a group of friends dressed as Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine, and Edward from Cowboy Bebop in the line waiting to meet up with Steve. Steve was ecstatic to see them and had a picture of them. Then there was a special kid who talked to Steve about his work on Digimon and how excited he was when he did the voices for him. Then it was my turn and he was another really nice, cool guy to meet up with.

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

Mary is a well known voice actress known for roles such as Julia from Cowboy Bebop, Kurenai and Tsunade from Naruto, Lady Jagaura from Wolf's Rain, Nina from the Tekken series, and more. There was a guy dressed as Tobi from Naruto: Shippuden talking to her about how much the series means a lot to him. Then when I met her, she was very nice to talk to.

Michael Liscio, Jr. and Haven Paschall

Michael and Haven are the voices of Clemont and Serena from the Pokemon X and Y series, who were Ash's companions on his journey to Kalos. This was their very first trip to Florida Supercon and were excited to be in Florida. I saw some kids approach Michael with Pokemon cards to sign with him giving high fives afterwards. They were both very sweet and very approachable to talk to. I hope this isn't their last trip here because I wanted to talk to them more. Also, it made me want to finish watching X and Y since I only saw a handful of the episodes when they first debuted.

Alyson Rosenfeld

Alyson is the current voice of Nurse Joy of Pokemon as well as the voice of Bonnie from X and Y, the younger sister of Clemont and the 3rd companion of Ash's journey to Kalos. She was also incredibly nice who was excited to meet with the Pokemon fans. This was also her first trip to Florida Supercon and she was enjoying been there. Similar to what I said about meeting up with Haven and Michael, I hope that she comes back so I can talk to her more.

Other people I met that I, unfortunately, couldn't get their pictures of were Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario from the Mario series, Zach Callison, the voice of Steven from Steven Universe, Nancy Cartright, the voice of Bart Simpson from The Simpsons, and Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. They were all incredible to meet with.

The things I did in Florida Supercon that I've never done before was taking pictures of the cosplayers, some of which I met up with lines to meet up with the special guests.

That's all I have to say for now. If you want to see more on my trip, you can check out this video where I did a video on it.

Hope to see you around Old School Lane soon. Thanks for reading. -Patricia
